About Hyattsville Water Damage Pros

Hyattsville Water Damage Pros is a 24/7 dispatch line that connects Hyattsville homes with licensed and insured water damage restoration professionals.

What happens when you call

The line is open around the clock, including nights, weekends and holidays. A dispatcher answers and asks what happened, when it started, where the water came from and how far it spread. They also ask whether sewage or electricity is involved and whether you rent or own.

Next, the dispatcher explains the scope of work and the price before work starts. Then licensed and insured restoration professionals are sent to the address, with same-day response when available. We do not promise an arrival time, because traffic, storms and call volume change.

Our main service is water damage restoration. Mold remediation is secondary and comes after the moisture is fixed. The full list is on the services page.

What we do not do

We do not waterproof basements. Restoration repairs damage that already happened, while waterproofing aims to keep water out later. If a drainage problem is behind your leak, we will say so and suggest you ask a waterproofing contractor.

We do not repair fire damage and we do not rent equipment. Drying equipment such as air movers and LGR dehumidifiers is set up and monitored by the crew as part of a job. We also do not decide what your insurance covers. Only your policy and your insurer can do that.

What we mean by scope and price first

Restoration is hard to price over the phone, because the same wet floor can be a few hours of drying or a week of work. So the dispatcher describes how the scope is set instead. The crew looks at the source, the materials that got wet, how long they were wet and what kind of water it was. Clean supply water, gray water and sewage are handled very differently.

You hear the plan and the price before work starts. If something changes after drywall comes down, the crew explains what was found and what it means for the plan. Nobody should be surprised by a bill.

We do not offer waterproofing, and we say so when a caller asks. Restoration dries and repairs what water already damaged. Keeping water out of a basement is a separate job for a different trade.

Why we answer the phone ourselves

Water damage does not keep office hours. A supply line that fails at midnight does the same damage by morning as one that fails at noon, and wet drywall can start growing mold within a couple of days. That is why the line stays open all night, on weekends and on holidays.

We also keep this site call-only on purpose. There is no form to fill out and no inbox to wait on. If water is spreading, a person on the phone is faster than any message, and the dispatcher can ask the follow-up questions in real time.

When you call, have the address, the room that is wet and a rough idea of the source ready. If you cannot answer one of those, say so and keep going. The dispatcher will fill in the gaps with a few simple questions.

How we chose where to work

The service area is Hyattsville plus five nearby towns: College Park, Bladensburg, Riverdale Park, Brentwood and Mount Rainier. They share US 1, the Anacostia watershed and many of the same housing types.

A tight area lets the dispatcher give honest answers about where crews can go. The service area page lists the ZIP codes.

Standards to ask about

Two published industry standards guide this work. ANSI/IICRC S500 is the Standard for Professional Water Damage Restoration, and ANSI/IICRC S520 is the procedural standard for remediating mold-damaged structures and contents. We name them so you know what to ask for.

Ask any company you consider, including ours, whether its crews work to S500 and S520, and how. A good answer is specific. It covers water categories, drying goals, containment and how the crew will show that the structure is dry.

How we write our guides

Our guides draw on public sources: the EPA, the CDC, the Maryland Insurance Administration, WSSC Water, and Prince George's County and City of Hyattsville documents. When a guide states a local fact, it names the kind of source it came from.

When we cannot find a fact in a source, we leave it out and point you to the right office. For example, we tell you to check the FEMA flood map for your address and to ask the county permitting office about rebuilding permits. We do not list founders, awards or customer counts, because this page is meant to tell you what the line does.
